The Pre-Release Paradigm

The Pre-Release Paradigm mini-course focuses on the essential therapeutic interventions and considerations necessary before undergoing a TOTs release procedure. It is widely recognized that post-release therapy is important, but pre-release therapy is equally crucial for achieving optimal outcomes. This course will teach participants to define the three types of tethered oral tissues, understand the benefits of pre-release therapy, identify useful interventions, evaluate markers for therapeutic readiness, and consider potential alterations in pre-release protocols. Enhance your clinical skills and prepare your patients effectively for TOTs procedures.

Confidently Connecting for Collaboration (CCC)

Plot The TOT

A Collaborative Map to Optimal Outcomes is an advanced specialty training designed for healthcare providers who aim to achieve rapid and effective patient outcomes. This course emphasizes a synchronized team approach, involving multiple specialists working together for comprehensive care. Participants will observe real patient evaluations, therapies, and surgeries, utilizing the E3 Model of Care® to ensure predictable results for patients with Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs). This approach helps healthcare professionals view the whole patient and implement thorough treatment plans.

Course Objectives

This course is specifically designed for Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapists, Lactation Consultants, Physicians, and Dentists. It covers the entire patient journey from initial evaluation to treatment, providing a collaborative framework that enhances patient care. Participants will learn to define the E3 Model of Care®, develop a common vocabulary for interdisciplinary communication, maintain multidisciplinary teams, and create effective treatment plans. Upon completion, attendees are granted permission to use the "Plot the TOT" logo, signifying their expertise in TOTs management.

The Plot the TOT course spans two intensive days, offering comprehensive sessions on key topics. Day 1 includes registration, an introduction to collaboration philosophy, and discussions on definitions, background, and comorbidities of TOTs. It also covers evaluations, therapy, patient education, and setting up practices for releases. Day 2 focuses on surgical procedures, case-specific examples, troubleshooting, the sleep connection, follow-up therapy, and laser demonstrations. Each session is designed to provide practical insights , ensuring participants gain valuable skills for their practice.

Credentials & Accreditation

Plot The TOT is approved for 1.3 ASHA CEUs (Advanced Level, Professional Area) and is recognized by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). It is also an approved CE course for the International Association of Orofacial Myology (IAOM) and other professional organizations. Participants must attend the entire course to receive continuing education units, and they will receive a certificate of completion. The course includes comprehensive attendance tracking to ensure compliance with CEU requirements.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the E3 Model of Care® components from both the allied health and the release provider perspectives                                                 

  • Formulate a workable vocabulary to create a communication script between allied health providers, release providers, and patients               

  • Describe how to develop and maintain a multidisciplinary care team using the E3 Model of Care®                                                                     

  • Explain the rationale for accountability between allied health and release providers using the E3 Model of Care®

  • Identify key indicators to determine when a release is recommended

  • Create descriptive and objective phrases for documentation of both release procedures and progress toward functional outcomes

Is Myo Right for Me?

This mini-course is designed to help healthcare professionals decide if Orofacial Myology is a suitable addition to their practice. It includes detailed information on integrating orofacial myology into your existing services, the steps to get started, and what to expect during the certification process. By the end of this course, you will have a clear understanding of the benefits of orofacial myology, the requirements for certification, and how it can enhance your practice and patient outcomes.

Cancellation - Virtual courses are non-refundable. Chrysalis Orofacial® is not responsible for any expenses incurred by registrants.

Complaint Policy - When taking courses, Chrysalis Orofacial® students are encouraged, at all times, to communicate their concerns to course creators and/or the administrative team by emailing info@chrysalisorofacial.com. If a situation arises in which a student had a complaint or grievance regarding instruction or other topics related to his or her course, the student is to adhere to the following procedure:
 

1. Within 72 Hours: Discuss the matter with his or her online course instructor(s), if applicable. If not resolved,

2. Within the following 72 hours: Discuss the matter with the CE Director. The CE Director has the responsibility of reaching a decision that is in balance with the best interest of both the student and the organization. If a written response is needed, the student will be notified in writing within 5 business days of the CE Director’s decision. A student or any member of the public may file a grievance about this organization with the Better Business Bureau by calling (864) 242-5052 or by completing a complaint form, which can be obtained on the bureau’s internet web site (http://www.bbb.org).
